From a young age I felt I was living in a world of giants. Everything was gigantic to me. Sometimes een frightening. Mom, Dad, the couch, my bed, my parent's bed, the house, and so on--all these things and more were big to me at that age. The fireplace, with the big mouth and all the brick sticking out of it made the fireplace look like it had spines, was the worst. I remember when I was about 4 or 5 years old, every time
my Dad would get a fire going, I would hear the crackle, pop, and sizzling noises coming from the fireplace. Instantly I would make a dash for my bedroom, climb up onto my gigantic bed and crawl to hide under the covers. I eventually got over it over the years, but the one thing i didn't get over was my bed. My bed was ay too big for me at that age. It was about 6 X 4' bed and sood about 3' off the ground. Like I said, "really big." Sometimes it would take me a few tries before I got up onto the bed.
