Defined, vindicated means: "to clear of accusation, blame, suspicion, or doubt with supporting arguments or proof". The person in this song wishes merely for redemption from his mistakes. At the beginning of "Vindicated", the singer tells about his hopes for redemption. How he was even "mesmerized" by this. In the chorus, it states: "I am selfish, I am wrong. I am right, I swear I'm right. Swear I knew it all along." This shows the singer's doubt in himself, followed shortly after by his realization that what he did wasn't all that bad, and he should have known that from the start. The song continues to talk about "your [ the girl's ] intentions". How they were more then what the guy could ever handle, but boy did they sound swell.
