On February 14 my friends kidnapped me to take me out to see a sensual and robust dance company called Mina’s Oriental Dance Co at a restaurant, because I complained and complained about wanting to see belly dancers. When we arrived I saw the most captivating things; costumes. The costumes were in every color from the blackest black to the brightest gold and it was the best time I had ever had.
The movements were crazy in a good way and I did not know that bodies were capable of bending in such ways. Belly Dancing comes from the Middle East and has been urbanized into one of the biggest free forms of movement. It is popular in many cultures such as the Turkish, Egyptian and Palestinian. Palestinian plans on banning the dance because of its “sexual” indication.
Mina troupe danced many times with an assortment of chimes, cymbals, and other hand instruments while live music played in the background. I later found out that many of Minas moves were traced back to her heritage of being......
