Airbus has been in business for a little over 30 years and is jointly owned by EADS (80%) and BAE systems which are two of the largest defense contractors. There are seven members that act as a supervisory council (shareholder committee); working together they approve the annual budget, three year investment plan, new programs, and other major investments. The Committee also appoints the Airbus Executive committee members, which are nominated by the CEO. The Committee compromised of ten people from each core business function and is responsible for managing all activities that involve Airbus. With such a international company the GM's of the national entities in France, Germany, Spain, and the U.K. have a dual mission.
