The Gilded Age marked the starting point of what is known as the American Industrial Revolution. During this time many new inventions came about along with new industries. The two main reasons why more new industries started were because there was an increase of natural resources and population. Population increase meant a larger workforce. There were two kinds of businessmen in the industry. Robber Barons were businessmen who were often criticized on they way they made there money. They were people who stopped at nothing to achieve great wealth. They stole from the public to make their money. They also paid workers as little as possible, as well as putting them in dangerous working conditions. Captains of Industry were the direct opposite of a Robber Baron.
