I would like to talk about conscious design. As designers we could have the power to influence people, we are joining an industry based around promoting brands, products and corporations, and its quite scary. I want to show you that you don’t
have to be a tree hugger to be socially responsible so I want to show
you some work from current designers that make statements about social
issues and show you that politics, ethics and green design
can be not only done well but with
humour, wit and style.
This design deals with the reality of sweatshops, it shows how much money
actual goes into making a piece of clothing and how little the workers earn
from each garment. I quite like that it looks like it could be a page taken from
a muji catalogue.
