A Rasin in the Sun by Lorrain Hansberry
Lorrain Hansberry's play, A Rasin in the Sun, portrays a family of african americans as they struggle to over come obstacles in their
path. The head of the house,Mama, is given a large amount of money and the must decide how to spend it in a way that would be best for the
whole family.Her son Walter believes that you need money to be happy, and then becomes obsessed with the money that was given to his
mother. Walter's wife, Ruth, struggles to take care of her family, including the new baby on the way, all while trying to rekindle the love between
Walter and herself. Beanetha, Walter's younger sister trys to follow her dream of becoming a docter while also trying to find herself along the
way.
This play is set in Chicago. Some time between World War 2 and the present day. The action on this story however, thats place in the
Younger's small, over crowded apartment building
