"Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States, was born on February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Harden County, Kentucky". He was the son of Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln.
When Lincoln was 9 years of old his family and him moved to Indiana. As Lincoln grew up he loved to read and learn how to work in the fields. Lincoln's father was the exact opposite, and because of this it pushed their relationship apart. "In 1828 Lincoln made his first flatboat trip to New Orleans, in that same year his sister died giving birth to a little girl." Lincoln and his family moved west to Illinois in 1831. The next year Lincoln made a second flatboat trip to New Orleans. "While living in Illinois he briefly served in the Black Hawk War and made a non-successful run for the Illinois legislature 1832."
