My late grandfather was part of the Indian Regiment Army stationed in Singapore when the Japanese attacked South East Asia early 1942. After the war he decided to quit the Army and married his bride which was arranged by my late great grandfather. The British government granted him citizenship for his time in service and so he decided to leave India and settle down in Singapore. When my father came of age my grandfather approached his best friend to speak about a union between both my parents. Soon after, they married. Living in Singapore ever since I was born, I have been exposed to Western Culture that I have considered myself more Singaporean than Indian.
Late last year, I returned to my motherland, Incredible India. My cousin invited my family and I to witness his wedding in Punjab.
