Introduction
Riordan Manufacturing Inc. was founded by Dr. Michael Riordan in 1991 and the initial focus was on licensing of it existing patents and research and development. In 1992, Dr. Riordan purchased a fan manufacturing plant in Pontiac, MI., and in 1993 the company expanded into Albany, GA. where an acquisition of a plastic beverage container manufacturing plant was made (Apollo, 2006). The company’s most recent expansion took place in 2000 when it opened it operations in China (Apollo, 2006).
Today Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics manufacturer of plastic beverage containers, custom plastic parts, and plastic fan parts. The company is a major supplier to the Department of Defense, beverage makers and bottlers, automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, and appliance manufacturers (Apollo, 2006).
