The Alien and Sedition Acts were four bills passed in 1798 by the Federalists in the United States Congress. These bills would upset the different immigrants that would come to America, because there rights and choices would be now effected by these the Alien and Sedition Acts. The men that governed our country at this time were split into the federalist, and Anti-Federalist, and these two opposing teams would create great controversie on the subject because of their different views. This issue, along with many others, would create a argument on whether The Alien and Sedition Acts should be passed.
One of the problems that was caused by this debate was the matter of loose and strict interpretation of the Constitution. The Federalist believed that the Constitution should be loose and not very clear on regulation, in order to give the country’s leaders power to interpret the way they wanted to. However, the Anti-Federalist believed that the Constitution should be very clear......
