From the very beginning of our country through the depths of the 1800’s, farming was the main stronghold of our country. Farming was the source of wealth and economy. Later on, inventions sprung up, new ways of transportation and communication emerged, and industrialism took the place of what used to be the leading economic field. Changes occurred that were both beneficial and problematic to the growing United States of America.
Inventions, such as the telephone, dishwasher, and motor powered car, moderanized the lifestyle during that time. The railroad, another asset that was important to the economy, helped industrialize the country. The cross-country railroads were beneficial because goods and people could be transported faster. Railroad cars became more comfortable as this type of transportation became more popular. The idea of an assembly line made producing goods easier and faster.
