Capital punishment has been used for almost 4,000 years by governments. In the mid 1900s it became a very controversial issue in the United States leading the death penalty to be abolished in 1972. Under certain conditions, this form of punishment was brought back five years later in 1977. There are nine ways in which a person can be placed in death row in Connecticut. These nine ways are: murder a policeman or fireman in the line of duty, rape resulting in murder, kidnap resulting in murder, two or more of the same felony, murder for hire, sell drugs resulting in death, murder previously and kill again, and murder in prison. Any one of these nine ways will result in capital punishment. I believe that the death penalty is a good way to punish those who have committed any of the listed crimes above, although, there are also reasons against the death penalty.
