In this essay on A Separate Peace by John Knowles I will be writing about the coming of age in this book. This essays main topic will be how gene grows throughout the book and also how he becomes a young man in his time at Devon collage. I will be explains what I think of the coming of age topic and my person experience on this topic.
I think Gene really grows in this book. In the beginning of the book he always would fallow Finny and listen to everything he said. He didn't think for himself most of the time. As the book went on he really became more independent and started to think for himself. Out of all the things in the book that happened I think the death of finny was the one that gene grow the most from. He had to deal with the pane of losing
his best friend and also having to over come the fact that he might have caused his death in some way.
