General Douglas MacArthur
General Douglas MacArthur is one of the United States' most popular and accomplished generals. He is mostly known for being the commander of all Allied forces in the Pacific theater during World War II. His life was a spectacular rise and tragic fall. He was one of the United States' greatest leaders of all time. He lived his entire life living by the West Point code of Duty, Honor, and Country.
Douglas Macarthur was born on January 26th, 1880 in Little Rock, Arkansas (Kelley 35). His parents were Arthur and Mary MacArthur. As a young man, Douglas MacArthur was moved around frequently to different parts of the United States where his father was stationed. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where he received his commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army.
