Chapter 3 summary
In chapter 3 it talks about any act or gestures that serve to indicate or claim and identify in the presence of others. And everyday situations are filled with announcements, as people intentionally and unintentionally indicate their location. Announcements sometime may be verbal, "Hello my name is Jason." Another way is behavioral, "Jason is now shaking everyone's hand." Sometime announcement goes off appearance, as in a police officer who wears his or her uniform and gets out of a squad car.
They are others ways such as interaction with others in a social situations. This is called biographical self in fact this is a process of role taking. It is saying that people engaged in everyday interaction in particular situation bring their selves with them , and sometime their interaction focuses on other aspects of their lives.
