On Friday 18th November, 2005, I put all studies aside and made up my mind to relax. On this night in question, I decided to attend an AIDS lock-in. It was the first time I was attending of that nature so I had no idea of what to expect. I did not want to attend this event alone so I rallied two of my friends and cajoled them to come with me. The lock-in was set to begin at 9 pm and end at 3 am.
My friends and I arrived at the lock-in at 9:30 pm since we didn't want to be the first ones there. Some sorority females had helped organise the affair so they were there in living color, cear and present. One would think it was a sorority hangout! One thing I loved about it was the whole support system provided for persons suffering or for use of a better word surviving with HIV and AIDS. My eyes were literally opened as I had never actually thought that persons of my age and background could contract such a disease. "Average joes" that one would speak to everyday carried this disease......
