The movie The Day Earth Stood Still has many political standpoints, such as the way the United States government reacted to the aliens. And the world leader's response to the aliens requests to listen to them. In the first case the United States government reacted to the aliens in a hostile action, by bringing tanks and military personnel to the aliens craft's landing spot. Then by firing upon the alien that came to warn the earth of what was happening around them. Also the way the world leaders responded to the aliens request to a meeting of all power to explain to them what is going on, but they argued among themselves before the alien could warn them.
This movie also has social statements, such as the way many people responded to the aliens. First of all the way the Army personnel fired upon the alien speaker and did not listening to him; then by se him in the hospital and not letting him out to explore our world.
