Remaking the Epic of America

Over the past few years, theaters in America have seen a succession of films with the same plot. Films such as, "Hoosiers," "Glory Road," "Coach Carter," "Remember the Titans," and "Miracle" are just a few of these sports stories that have captured the hearts of Americans. Throughout all of these films there is a central similar theme. They include a no-nonsense coach and an underdog team that rises up to beat the better favorite team with hard work and ambition. Each time the unsupported team wins glory over the more respected rivals the American tradition of social mobility is enhanced. When a story like this is repeated similarly over and over again and constantly attracts audiences it shows that the values represented in the film are parallel to those that the society......
