Serving our in our countries military or some form of community service is one of the highest honors a person can have. If everyone were required to serve at least one year, most people would consider this country not free. This is one of the reasons that the draft was removed during the 1970’s, allowing us to have the choice to serve our country. Being required to serve in a community role is the same principal as the military draft. Americans should have the freedom to choose their employment or to serve in the military or some form of community service.
When an individual is forced to join some form of governmental department, the moral of that individual will not be the same as someone how joins because they have strong feelings for serving the country. Taking a closer look at the war in Iraq that our troops are presently fighting, one will see the dedication the soldiers have. The soldiers want to fight and want to liberate the people of Iraq.
