As much as great this book by Dave Pelzer was, there was some things I did not like. One of the things I didn't like was the fact that his father didn't do anything when he saw his beloved child in pain. What kind of father does that? I understand that David's mother had control over her husband, but a good father would try do anything to save his son from all of this pain. Other family members never did anything to help David. One example of this is when his mom stabbed him, he was in a lot of pain and when he told his dad what had happened, his dad just said "well you should go finish the dishes". Even his dad wouldn't take him to the hospital. Another example was when David's dad moved out and didn't take him with him. David and his dad had talked about getting out of the house together and when his dad left without taking him, David felt deserted. His dad could have saved him but didn't and then David thought he would never get away from his mother. David's brothers didn't help......
