Did you know that gum started way back in the time of the ancient Greek? The Greeks back then chewed ¡§mastiche - a chewing gum made from the resin of the mastic tree,¡¨ quoted from the ¡¥Gum¡¦ article by Mary Bellis. In the 20th century, the idea came back as a blast. The inventor Thomas Adams had created a new confection called chewing gum. A hundred years after its invention, chewing gum is now being enjoyed by all the people around the world. In my opinion, gum should be allowed at Leyva Middle School because it helps student and teachers socialize better and get the student to concentrate more in class.
When you¡¦re chewing gum, you are practicing a tradition that has been passed down for centuries. Even though two hundreds years has passed, people still chewed gum, like the ancient Greek, to sweeten their breath and clean their teeth.
