My first evaluation is on the Daily News. This is Mondays' issue. It costs fifty cents. The front cover has a large cover photo of a NYC subway, which is tagged by the headline "Bad guys Derailed". Subway crime is at an all time low, which is a positive cover story for once. Most papers I read have a very depressing cover story. There is also a scratch game inside the paper. It is advertised on the cover which makes people lean towards purchasing it. Apparently you scratch a card to see what numbers you have and the winning ones will be announced on channel 4 (NBC) at 11 p.m. This helps NBC get more viewers for advertisers to purchase airtime during that slot.
The main articles are really the only ones that have photos to accompany them. All of the photos are in black and white. Nothing very bias about the articles, just covering what had happened Sunday. The cover story is on page 5, which again has a giant black and white picture that almost takes up the entire page. To the left......
