His Majesty: The Reign of Hatchepsut
Hatchepsut was not a conventional Queen. Hatchepsut became the most influential woman Egypt has ever seen. After Tuthmosis II died, her husband, Hatchepsut would become known as “King Hatchepsut”. In a highly conservative and male-dominated society, Hatchepsut earned her fame and carried out her political achievements by becoming “King”; however, she would not have been as successful without the help of her most loyal supporter, Senenmut.
When married to Tuthmosis II, “Hatchepsut behaved in an exemplary fashion throughout her husbands’ reign.”[1] After her husband’s death at thirty, the young queen was called upon to act as a regent on behalf of her younger stepson.
