I think I would be a good Drill Sergeant because I love to train and lead Soldiers. Training and leading Soldiers is what makes my job awesome and rewarding. I have always heard my buddies who were Drill Sergeants talk about their experiences when they were “on the trail” and I’ve always wanted to experience that. They would tell me how good they felt when they graduated the young Soldiers and actually get to actually see the fruits of their labor. They would describe it as if they were creating something important for the rest of the country. When I was a Drill Sergeant Candidate down at one of the Basic Combat Training units on Fort Jackson, SC, I was sitting at the barber shop with one of the Company’s Drill Sergeants waiting for the Soldiers getting haircuts to finish, when a man in civilian clothes came up and thanked him for everything that the Drill Sergeants did to mold his son into what he called a “model citizen.” I saw my Drill Sergeant buddy smile and blush a……
