Tourism can cause change or loss of local identity and values with commodification (when a destination is sold as a tourism product, as a result sacred sites and objects are not respected and perceived as goods to trade), standardization (when they want to satisfy tourists' desires for familiar facilities), loss of authenticity and staged authenticity (locals are performing real life in shows) and adaptation to tourist demands (craftsmen are making changes in design of their products to sell more).
The result of culture clashes can be an overexploitation of the social carrying capacity and cultural carrying capacity.
