Throughout history, Ancient Greece has had a major impact on society. Greece was made up of 2 major polis, Athens and Sparta. In Athens and Sparta, education, and attitude towards family and women were very different. Athens and Sparta were very different politically economically, and socially.
In Athens the main focus for education was to make boys able to play a part in their city-state. The education of the Athenian boy consisted of Music, and physical training, and reading and writing. They were given the great epics of Homer, the Iliad and the Odyssey to help increase their writing ability. Every child was also required to learn how to play the lyre, since every Athenian wanted to be able to sing, play or dance. This was different in Sparta. As soon as a son was of age, he was sent to military training. There was not much music and art in Sparta, their sole purpose was to train soldiers. Women and men were equally trained, while in Athens, the woman was not even given......
