Should Justin Ellsworth’s Parents have been given access to his email?
Although I’m taking a stance as a third party I don’t believe that the Parents of Justin Ellsworth should have been given full access to his email. I sat here and struggled with this question trying to put myself in their shoes, should the email provider give them access to maybe some of his most private thoughts and wishes, what is going to turn up, is it going to be something that hurts the parents as much as what his death did. What if they give them access, what harm would it do, I guess that’s why it makes it such an ethical decision. I can understand why the family wants his email, they want to know what he was thinking, how he lived, who he knew. But really what difference does it make, is it going to change their opinion of him, actually it could.
