Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between violent television and increased aggressive behavior in children. The research question is: Do children that watch violent television show an increase in aggressive behavior relative to children that do not watch violent television? My hypothesis is that children that watch violent television show a higher incidence of aggressive behaviors than children that do not watch violent television. The independent variable is violent television programming, e.g. strong language and depiction of violent activity. The dependent variable is aggressive behavior. By researching this topic, sociologists and child development professionals may gain greater insight into understanding the factors that influence increased aggressive behavior in children, and at the same time help to identify......
