Basic manners in today’s society A transition of times, today I spent a few hours at our local mall just watching people as they walked by. Being raised in a home where manners were expected not assumed, I am often amazed at how many people function in day to day affairs with little to no manners at all. Today I watched people young and old alike try to run each other down to get to the next store. Rudely pushing past each other, to be at the front of the line, without as much as a second glance at the person they pushed past to get there. At what point in our lives did we get to the point that we are in such a hurry to get from the first stop to the next without as much as an “excuse me”? Sitting on the bench just watching people walk past bumping each other hurried. I decided that it was time for me to walk around the lower half of the mall and see how people interacted with me as a walker.
