THE IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOWING ORDERS GIVEN BY A SUPERIOR

Starting in Basic Combat Training each new military recruit is taught to listen and follow instructions and orders given by their superiors, whether that superior is a Non-Commissioned Officer, a Warrant or Commissioned Officer. They were taught that this was necessary for several reasons:
It would maintain the discipline and order that was established in the military
It aided in unit cohesion,
To impart the knowledge of superiors accumulated over the years through experience.
It is used to “get the job done!”

Superiors require obedience to orders given to subordinates because it helps to maintain order and discipline. It does this in several ways. When orders are obeyed, a superior never has to go back and check behind his subordinates to ensure that a task was completed.
