César Chavez
Throughout the course of history, political and social figures have come and have through their determination and dedication to change impacted the world. It is no surprise that without them, it would be hard to say where all of us would truly be right now. César Chavez is my pick as a mentor because he rallied a whole group of people to stand up for their rights as Mexican Americans. My parents are also of immigrant background, and if it were not for leaders such as César Chavez, I’m not too sure I would have the freedoms I have today. Chavez once said:“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.” He was a man that believed in his people, and who also thought they should believe in each other.
