Tough Love
The novel Sula by Toni Morrison takes place in the early 1900s in a small Ohio town called The Bottom. The story tells of two African-American friends, Sula and Nel, from their childhood through their adulthood. This tale of conformity and rebellion takes you through the friendship of two young girls who come from families with different beliefs, and shows you how their friendship is changed throughout the course of their lives. Even though this novel is focused mostly on the life of Sula, but Eva Peace who is the grandmother of Sula plays an immense role throughout the novel as well. In this work of fiction Eva displays acts which may have hindered Sula and made her who she is may it be good or evil. Although Eva is not the perfect role model, she loves her children.
