Abortion in the United States has become one of the most common procedures for woman ages 15-44. But should it be the government deciding if a woman should have this procedure or should it be the a decision made by the women having it, or even the heath care provider for that woman or should it be an informed decision between the health-care provider and the woman having it? Abortion should be legal because women should be able have a choice, it should be decided by health-care professionals on a case-to-case basis.
Statistically, abortion has been decreasing over the past several years, for example, 6.4 million pregnancies that occurred in 2000 were unintended, and half of these pregnancies ended in abortion. This includes the pregnancies ended in miscarriage as well. In 1990 the abortion rates were at an all-time high, at 1.61 million. By contrast, in 2000 the abortion rates declined to 1.31 million, and by 2005, the abortion rate dropped even more to 1.21 million, equaling……
