Things can seem odd or uncouth at first if you don’t understand them. My pre-analysis of The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali was initially startling. Then I found a strange calm about the piece. I found the warm colors very inviting at first. As I took a closer look there seemed to be random things placed about the painting. Not know they actually told a story or knowing anything about the artist. The melting clocks gave me a feeling that time is a huge concept in the work, and the fact that all the clocks are melting seemed to me as if the years and time have see to surpass the artist without him knowing. The figure in the painting somewhat resembling a man I assume that this form represents the artist in some way. The mountains in the background could be used as filler or represent something of significance to the artist. There are also ants or termites on one of the watches with a face.......
