As the incessant whining of the broken alarm clock ticked on, I could feel consciousness regained. Time again to join the living. I reached out to disarm the offensive clock. “Silence, if only for the moment,” I think to myself. “Bye, everyone” my wife cries as she darts out through the front door. With the covers thrown back, I set my feet to the touch of the cool wood floor. My robe beckons to me from the hook that shackles it to the closet door. I stretch my creaking back as I go forth toward the bathroom. Steam from a shower recently past, wafts from out the door and clings to me like a morning’s dew. A cadence drums in my ear as water drips from the showerhead. Globs of toothpaste decorate the sink. I wonder if I can get some on the brush today.
