With this letter I am enclosing my report on the RoHS standard and its effect on the electronics industry. My report calls for the repeal of the RoHS standard based on cost, reliability concerns and lack of supporting scientific data. A better solution to lead-based electronic devices ending up in landfills would be stricter recycling laws.
The RoHS standard has clearly been detrimental to the electronics industry. The equipment failures directly caused by this legislation and the increased cost to manufacture electronic devices, are sensible reasons to repeal the RoHS standard.
