Multicultural education acknowledges that schools and teachers play a pivotal role in building the foundation as well as in influencing students to reach their highest potential. For it to be effective, multicultural education requires total school reform. By total school reform is meant a refocusing of policies and directions and transformation of every aspect of school landscape and environment towards effectively preparing students for the realities of living in an ethnically diverse society and a pluralistic world.
